Eleanor Stem Allen Memorial Speech Trek
Speech Trek is a speaking contest open to all California high school students.
Speech Trek is an AAUW California Project that begins on the branch level with a speech tournament for local students and culminates with three top statewide finalists performing their five-minute speeches at the AAUW California convention/annual meeting in April.
The winter of 2015-2016 was our branch’s first year to participate in this program. A dedicated group of our members facilitated a very well-planned and successful presentation of the five local students, linked below, that were chosen as our finalists.
We look forward to the future of this project for we feel that it contributes to the confidence and success of all those who participate.
Donations to Speech Trek are tax deductible. Checks must be written to AAUW CA SPF. Write Speech Trek in the memo line.
2015-2016 Contest Topic
Gender Bias and Inequality
What is gender bias and inequality? What is its impact on people? Why should organizations such as AAUW continue to work to change its practice?
